What is UDID(Unique Disability Identity Card) Card?

- The UDID project initiated by Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities after Right of Person with Disability Act, 2016. This card is also known as Swavlaman Card. It shrinks all details of PWDs in one card. Now Person with Disability will not have to carry large number of documents. it will also ease government to have better management of data of PwDs.
It is done for:
- Online availability of data of Person with Disability.
- Non duplication of Person with Disability data.
- Online renewal and updation of information by person with disability on their behalf.
- Effective management including interoperability of the benefits / schemes launched by the Government for Person with Disability (PwD).
- To take care of additional disability in future.
Objective:
- The Objective of this project is to enable the PwDs to avail schemes and benefits provided by the Government through its various Ministries and their Departments. This card will be valid pan-India, Presently, Disability certificate issued in a state are not acceptable in other states.
How to apply for UDID Card:

- You will get to the page which will look like this.
- On this page you can click on register to fill your credentials in the form.
- There are four sections of the form, you have to fill the form one by one section.
- Fill at least those blocks which have star Mark.
- Upload your photo, signature, identity card and disability certificate in a prescribed format and size.
- If you do not have disability certificate, click on option NO.
- After filling all sections of form, submit it.
- After final submission, download receipt which contains all required details like registration number, name and address.
- Using that registration number you can track the status of your UDID Card.
- You can expect your UDID card within six to twelve months by post.(Tentative time taken)

Advantages of UDID Card:
- Persons with disabilities will not need to make multiple copies of documents, maintain, and carry multiple documents as the card will contain all the necessary details.
- The UDID card will be the single document of identification, verification of the disabled for availing various benefits in future.
- The UDID Card will also help in tracking of the physical and financial progress of beneficiary at all levels of hierarchy of implementation – from village level, block level, District level , State level and National level.
- Now, No duplication of PwDs data is possible as everything is going to happen online.
